Titre : Shoulder Concepts 2008 Arthroscopy & Arthroplasty Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Pascal Boileau, Auteur Editeur : Sauramps Médical Année de publication : 2008 ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-2-84023-572-9 Langues : Français (fre) Catégories : Orthopédie Résumé : This book is based on the talks presented by a group of experts in Nice, on May 8, 9, 10, during the Nice Shoulder Course 2008. There is probably no other field in orthopaedic surgery where knowledge in anatomy, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment has expanded so greatly in the last 20 years. The diagnosis and treatment of patients with shoulder pathologies remain both challenging and exciting. Surgeons are now capable to perform true shoulder repairs and reconstructions using sophisticated implants (anatomical and non anatomical) as well as videosurgery for mini-invasive approaches.
There are, of course, many (maybe too many) different methods to treat shoulder lesions. Today, the problem that surgeons face is not a “lack of information”, but a real “intoxication”, due to the explosion of techniques, instruments, implants and devices available for both arthroscopic and arthroplastic procedures. The orthopaedic surgeons who want to gap the bridge between traditional operations and newer approaches are often lost “deep in the jungle”. This is why the Nice Shoulder Course continues to be organized on a two-year basis.
The ambition of the Nice Shoulder Course, and therefore of this book, is to present the current state of knowledge and the latest concepts in both arthroscopic and arthroplastic shoulder surgery. There is no better way to find your way in the jungle than to follow “experimented guides”: these guides are world leaders in shoulder surgery who can make the difference between necessary and superfluous, between myths and facts.
I have been fortunate to assemble such a group of experimented guides, of whom many are close friends of mine. Their task has been to reveal to you the state of the art of shoulder arthroscopy and arthroplasty. All of them are international experts who have made major contributions to diagnosis, techniques, implant design and engineering principles in the shoulder. They all try to make shoulder pathology more understable and shoulder surgery more reproducible and more beneficial to patients. They have all accepted to share their knowledge without any restriction to help you to make the right diagnosis for your patients, to understand why certain reconstructive shoulder procedures should be performed and some others should not and, finally how those procedures should be performed in a more reliable way.
Let me thank them for the efforts they have made and the time they took from their practices, and more importantly their families, to help you to find your way in the jungle ! Let me thank you for joining us ! Let’s follow them ! Let’s begin our journey !Shoulder Concepts 2008 Arthroscopy & Arthroplasty [texte imprimé] / Pascal Boileau, Auteur . - [S.l.] : Sauramps Médical, 2008.

Walch, Auteur Editeur : Sauramps Médical Année de publication : 2008 ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-2-84023-571-2 Langues : Français (fre) Catégories : Orthopédie Résumé : This book is based on the talks presented by a group of experts in Nice, on Mai 10, 2008 during the "facture day" Nice on the shoulder course. this full day has been dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of proximal humeral fractures sequelae wich are the most difficult to deal with.
Proximal humerus fractures are generally the squeala of low energy falls in the elderly or high velocity trauma in younger patients and their incidence is increasing. Surgical management is dependent on the fracture pattern including the number of fragments and their emplacement, the associated lesions, bone quality and functional possibilities of the patient (i.e., their age). Many surgical approaches and procedures for fracture fixation are possible and include: closed reduction with percutaneous pin/screw fixation, open reduction and internal fixation with a locking or blade plate, intramedullary nailing, hemiarthroplasty and reverse shoulder prosthesis. Regardless of the type of fixation utilized, there are numerous pitfalls associated with the management of proximal humerus fractures that can results in poor functional outcome and the need for subsequent revision surgery.
Restoring shoulder anatomy and function after a proximal humeral fracture or fracture sequenlae is, without any contest, the most difficult challenge in the orthopaedics. The possibilities of creating iatrogenicity in treating proximal humerus fractures and fracture sequalea are almost unlimited… the main purpose of this book is, therefore, to try to at least avoid such iatrogenicity. We hope that the information given in this book will help the surgeons who are committed in the field of shoulder traumatology to make the best decisions for their patients.Shoulder Concepts 2008 Proximal Humeral Fractures & Fracture Sequelae [texte imprimé] / Pascal Boileau, Auteur ; G. The aim of this article is to review the literature for updates on the surgical management of SD. The etiological theories of SD remain to be based on a developmental arrest of the intrauterine normal descent of the scapula. The deformity often coexists with other syndromes and medical conditions including Klippel-Feil syndrome, scoliosis, and rib abnormalities. The imaging evaluation is based on chest X-ray, CT with 3-D reconstruction and MRI to determine the deformity and its association with omovertebral bone. The plan for treatment is judged by the Cavendish classification of clinical cosmetic appearance, as well as shoulder functional impairment. Mild cases need no surgical intervention, however, there are several surgical procedures preserved for moderate to severe cases with near similar postoperative outcomes. The commonly performed procedures include Green's and Woodward procedures with further modifications to enhance the early mobilization and to reduce the associated brachial plexus injury. The use of minimally invasive techniques for SD is limited but it may take its place in the future.
- [S.l.] : Sauramps Médical, 2006.

This textbook describes the biomechanics of bone, cartilage, tendons and ligaments. It is rigorous in its approach to the mechanical properties of the skeleton yet it does not neglect the biological properties of skeletal tissue or require mathematics beyond calculus. Time is taken to introduce basic mechanical and biological concepts, and the approaches used for some of the engineering analyses are purposefully limited. The book is an effective bridge between engineering, veterinary, biological and medical disciplines and will be welcomed by students and researchers in biomechanics, orthopedics, physical anthropology, zoology, and veterinary science.
