Titre : Acute Kidney Injury - From Diagnosis to Care "Vol. 187" Type de document : texte imprimé Editeur : Karger Année de publication : 2016 Collection : Contributions to Nephrology ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-3-318-05826-0 Langues : Français (fre) Catégories : Néphrologie Résumé : Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a serious disorder in which sudden impairment of kidney function occurs secondary to one or more of a variety of underlying conditions and exposures. It is very common in (elderly) ICU patients and associated with very high mortality. Many of those who survive suffer from permanent kidney failure and other long-term morbidities. Renowned experts from around the world have contributed to this new publication, creating a succinct yet complete review of the most controversial aspects of AKI.
The topics range from epidemiology and basic science to pathophysiology and clinical issues. It is intended as a concise reference work for physicians and nurses who deal with AKI in clinical nephrology and intensive care wards on a daily basis.Acute Kidney Injury - From Diagnosis to Care "Vol. 187" [texte imprimé] . - [S.l.] : Karger, 2016. - (Contributions to Nephrology) .

Titre : "ADQI Consensus on AKI Biomarkers and Cardiorenal Syndromes "Vol. 182" Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : P. A. McCullough, Auteur ; J. A. Kellum, Auteur ; R. L. Mehta, Auteur Editeur : Karger Année de publication : 2013 Collection : Contributions to Nephrology ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-3-318-02406-7 Langues : Français (fre) Catégories : Néphrologie Résumé : Associated with both acute kidney injury (AKI) and cardio-renal syndromes (CRS), new biomarkers represent both a popular area of investigation and a new opportunity for advancement of therapy. This book contains the resolutions of the most recent ADQI conferences on biomarkers in AKI (Dublin) and on cardio-renal syndromes (Venice). The first part answers specific questions about new biomarkers and their use and utility in AKI: What are the most suitable candidate molecules and physiologic measures, how solid and evidence based is the discovery phase? How can we incorporate the new biomarkers in the AKI conceptual model describing the evolution from susceptibility to insult, decreased GFR and organ death? Even if we have a positive biomarker pattern and we can identify patients at risk or patients with early or even subclinical AKI, how is this information affecting our clinical behavior and practice? The second part is dedicated to the appraisal of the current knowledge about the pathophysiological mechanisms involved in different forms of CRS: it contains contributions on the state-of-the-art knowledge and practice of CRS, particularly focusing on the pathophysiology of the five subtypes. Acute and chronic mechanisms of damage are explored in depth, with particular attention to the primacy of organ involvement and the subsequent pathways of organ crosstalk. Presenting the most recent research in the field of biomarkers, AKI and CRS, this publication is an important educational tool for advanced investigators and clinical experts, but also for students and fellows. Titre : CKD-Associated Complications : Progress in the Last Half Century "Vol. 198" Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Takeshi Nakanishi, Auteur ; Takahiro Kuragano, Auteur Editeur : Karger Année de publication : 2019 Collection : Contributions to Nephrology ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-3-318-06423-0 Langues : Français (fre) Catégories : Néphrologie Résumé : This publication is a record of some of the outstanding presentations given at the 63rd Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Dialysis Therapy (JSDT). The meeting was held in Kobe in 2018, celebrating the 50-year anniversary of the founding of the JSDT as a voluntary academic association. Therapy for end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) now faces vital issues besides the management of renal anemia and chronic kidney disease-mineral and bone disorder and the selection of the optimal treatment modality for each patient. These issues include the increasing incidence of malnutrition and frailty in the elderly, fragile vascular access, and the balance between medical costs and budgets. Expert members of the JSDT present 15 articles that address these issues. This book serves to promote further progress in understanding the pathogenesis of complications associated with ESKD and providing optimal therapy for patients. Malik, Auteur Editeur : Karger Année de publication : 2015 Collection : Contributions to Nephrology ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-3-318-02705-1 Langues : Français (fre) Catégories : Néphrologie Résumé : Not only are dialysis access creation and maintenance prone to complications, but patients suffering from end-stage renal disease and its comorbidities generally have a high risk of adverse events during their continuous treatment. Preventive strategies are key to avoid harm and to improve the outcome of the treatment of the growing number of patients with chronic kidney failure, especially as doctors and nurses are not always aware of the consequences of unsafe behavior. This publication is intended for health care professionals – nurses as well as doctors – and aims to raise the awareness of patient safety aspects, combining medical education with evidence-based medicine.
After a general overview of the topic, an international panel of authors provides a diversified insight into important concepts and technical tricks essential to create and maintain a functional dialysis access.Patient Safety in Dialysis Access "Vol. 184" [texte imprimé] / M-K Widmer, Auteur ; J.
