Apley's System of Orthopaedics and Fractures. Ninth Edition / Louis Solomon
Titre : Apley's System of Orthopaedics and Fractures. Ninth Edition Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Louis Solomon, Auteur ; David Warwick, Auteur ; Selvadurai Nayagam, Auteur Editeur : Hodder Arnold Année de publication : 2010 ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-0-340-94205-5 Langues : Français (fre) Catégories : Orthopédie Résumé : Since the publication of the first edition in 1959, Apley's System of Orthopaedics and Fractures has been an essential textbook for those seeking to understand the structure and function of the musculoskeletal system, its diseases and its response to trauma. The book's success was initiated by the late Alan Apley's skills as a teacher, and the care and forethought that he brought to the presentation of the content.
The current authors have developed and extended this foundation to produce a thoroughly modern textbook of orthopaedic surgery, bringing complementary expertise while retaining the book's characteristic philosophy and approach. They are joined by a selection of expert contributors from around the world, who add material on a wide variety of subjects including radiology, open fractures, neuromuscular disorders, and inflammatory arthropathies.
This 9th edition echoes its predecessors in following Apley's approach to the orthopaedic patient. As before, the work is divided ino three section: General Orthopaedics, Regional Orthopaedics, and Fractures and Joint Injuries. The material has been fully updated and revised, including the replacement of the majority of the photographs, giving this edition a modern and relevant feel.Apley's System of Orthopaedics and Fractures. Fully revised and updated to keep abreast of current developments in radiation biology and radiation oncology, the fourth edition continues to present in an interesting way the biological basis of radiation therapy, discussing the basic principles and significant developments that underlie the latest attempts to improve the radiotherapeutic management of cancer.New topics for the fourth edition include chapters on the mechanisms of cell death, biological response modifiers, and biological image guided radiotherapy, with major revisions to sections on the molecular basis of the radiation response, tumour hypoxia and the dose-rate effect. A variety of new authors have contributed to this revision, who, together with the new Editorial team, have used their significant international teaching experience to ensure the content remains clear and comprehensive, and as valuable to the trainee as it is to the established radiation oncologist. With the fourth edition we will see the most radical change so far - as Professor Gordon Steel has retired as Editor and has been replaced by Bert van der Kogel, the current current course director for the above-mentioned course, plus Michael Joiner, who is the head of the Radiation Biology Program at the Wayne State University and is the Associate Editor of the International Journal of Radiation Biology. Based on the authoritative 'Stanmore course' run by the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, the book contains enough information to serve as a concise textbook while its emphasis is on revision.
The book is a guide to the basic sciences underpinning the practice of orthopaedic surgery, covering aspects of biomechanics, biomaterials, cell & microbiology, histology, structure & function, immunology, pharmacology, statistics, physics of imaging techniques, and kinesiology as relevant to the subject of orthopaedics.
The book will help trainees understand the science that underpins the clinical practice of orthopaedics, an often neglected area in orthopaedic training. It covers the breadth of topics in orthopaedic basic science achieving a balance between readability and comprehensive detail.
Basic Orthopaedic Sciences is an invaluable guide for all trainees in orthopaedics and trauma preparing for the FRCS, as well as for surgeons at MRCS level.Basic Orthopaedic Sciences : The Stanmore Guide [texte imprimé] / Manoj Ramachandran, Auteur ; Collectif, Auteur . - [S.l.] : Hodder Arnold, 2007.
