Shoulder Concepts 2008 Proximal Humeral Fractures & Fracture Sequelae / Pascal Boileau
Titre : Shoulder Concepts 2008 Proximal Humeral Fractures & Fracture Sequelae Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Pascal Boileau, Auteur ; G. Walch, Auteur Editeur : Sauramps Médical Année de publication : 2008 ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-2-84023-571-2 Langues : Français (fre) Catégories : Orthopédie Résumé : This book is based on the talks presented by a group of experts in Nice, on Mai 10, 2008 during the "facture day" Nice on the shoulder course. this full day has been dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of proximal humeral fractures sequelae wich are the most difficult to deal with.
Proximal humerus fractures are generally the squeala of low energy falls in the elderly or high velocity trauma in younger patients and their incidence is increasing. Surgical management is dependent on the fracture pattern including the number of fragments and their emplacement, the associated lesions, bone quality and functional possibilities of the patient (i.e., their age). Many surgical approaches and procedures for fracture fixation are possible and include: closed reduction with percutaneous pin/screw fixation, open reduction and internal fixation with a locking or blade plate, intramedullary nailing, hemiarthroplasty and reverse shoulder prosthesis. Regardless of the type of fixation utilized, there are numerous pitfalls associated with the management of proximal humerus fractures that can results in poor functional outcome and the need for subsequent revision surgery.
Restoring shoulder anatomy and function after a proximal humeral fracture or fracture sequenlae is, without any contest, the most difficult challenge in the orthopaedics. The possibilities of creating iatrogenicity in treating proximal humerus fractures and fracture sequalea are almost unlimited… the main purpose of this book is, therefore, to try to at least avoid such iatrogenicity. We hope that the information given in this book will help the surgeons who are committed in the field of shoulder traumatology to make the best decisions for their patients.Shoulder Concepts 2008 Proximal Humeral Fractures & Fracture Sequelae [texte imprimé] / Pascal Boileau, Auteur ; G.
